5 TIPS TO STAYING HEALTHY

Want to feel GREAT when your old?  Don’t let age stop you from having fun! Too often I walk down the street and see the stereotypical older gentleman or lady hunched over with a walker, slowly moving down the street. It looks painful! Nobody wants to be in that situation, but most of us don’t realize getting to that point with the back doesn’t happen overnight, it happens over years & years. In order to BE healthy and move well when older, we have to be intentional about health now!  Here are a few quick tips to starting out right.

1. Eat Well!

Food is the genetic information used by the body to re-build and heal. Say No to process sugar & inflammatory foods & say YES to more quality fruits, veggies, & healthy fats! Remember, you are what you eat so eat healthy! Click here for more info

2. Move Daily

Get out of your chair & take a brisk walk. “Sitting is the new smoking.” Yes, it is that bad for you. Aim for 10,000 steps/day. Movement is Life! Get outside, soak in the Vit D, & breath in fresh air!

3. Get Adjusted

Take pressure off the nervous system to allow your body to heal from the inside out. Pain is the last thing the body tells you when something is wrong, but once you have PAIN, it’s really too late, the damage has already been done. Get into your chiropractor for a checkup.  Remember: the nerves that exit your spine control EVERY function/aspect of the body!! Kind of really important to take care of right? Talk to your chiro about standing, good posture, & how to prevent getting hunched over when older.

4. Stay Hydrated

 60% of your body is water!! Some functions water helps with include digestion, absorption, circulation, & transportation of nutrients within the body. Start the day right with a glass of water! Pro Tip: keep a water bottle at your desk & sip throughout the day. It is recommended to drink 6-8 cups/day depending on your weight.

5. De-Stress

Constant physical, nutritional, or emotional stress over works the adrenals and keeps the body from healing optimally. Stress raises cortisol, creating inflammation, ligament laxity, and break down in your body over time. Find ways each day to relax and have fun! What do you enjoy that brings you life! When is doubt, laughing is great medicine 🙂 Be sure to get quality sleep as well. The body heals, repairs, and detoxifies at night…when you sleep.

Remeber, you only have one body, take care of it!
