It’s the <strong>1-mile swim</strong> that keeps me up at night.</p><p>I love swimming. Always have. But swimming competitively in open water? That’s a whole different game.</p><p>When I trained for my first sprint triathlon years ago, I remember getting to the end of a short pool lap… completely out of breath. I thought, <em>“How in the world am I going to do this?”</em></p><p>Now, here I am training for a <strong>1-mile swim</strong>, and those doubts still creep in.</p><p>But that’s what growth feels like, right? Scary. Hard. And I’ve started incorporating open water swims—even though they terrify me. Like, dread-it. Avoid-it. Make-excuses-for-it hate it.

If you told the younger version of me I’d be training for a 100-mile race, I would’ve laughed in your face.

Now here I am. Logging miles. Climbing vert. Watching my heart rate. Counting weeks.
And if I’m honest… I’m terrified.

A hundred miles is no joke. The doubts creep in.
What if I bonk?
What if I cramp at mile 70?
What if I’m not built for this?

But here’s what changed everything.

Community.

Running alone feels heavy. Running together feels possible. When you’ve got people beside you breathing hard, pushing through the same hills, something shifts. Fear shrinks. Courage grows.

And here’s the part no one talks about enough…

Your body has to be aligned for the dream to survive.

You can have the grit. The mindset. The playlist.
But if your hips are locked up, your spine is jammed, and your nervous system is stressed… the miles will expose it.

Chiropractic isn’t about cracking backs.
It’s about keeping the engine tuned so you can chase big goals without breaking down.

I get adjusted 2–4x a month. Not because I’m injured.
Because I refuse to let dysfunction steal the dream.

If you’ve ever said, “I’m not a runner”…
I did too.

Start small. Run with people. Keep your body in alignment.
Do scary things anyway.

You might surprise yourself.

Here’s how we make it:
- Simmer 1 inch sliced ginger + 2–3 star anise pods in 2 cups water for 15 min
- Turn off heat, cover, and steep another 10–15 min
- Strain, add juice of ½ lemon
- Stir in raw honey after it cools (we use raw honey from our own bees 🐝)
